It was established in 1823 from Monroe County and named for General Robert E. Lee. It is 1,211 square miles and has a population of over 739,000. Decals are required to be displayed in a window that is clearly visible from the road located in front of the home. Mobile Home registration and decal renewals may be conducted online, by mail, or at one of the Tax Collector’s Service Centers. Florida law requires mobile home decals and registrations to be renewed before they expire on December 31st.
TITLES & REGISTRATIONS
All mobile homes or recreational vehicles permanently affixed to land owned by the same owner will be declared as real property and issued a real property decal. These decals have a black background and do not require a yearly renewal. Real property decals are permanent and transferable to the new owner when the land and mobile home are sold together as a unit. In Florida, mobile homes must be titled and registered, similar to motor vehicles.

Customers using MyDMV Portal will receive their registration in the mail within 7-10 business days from the transaction. Customers can receive an emailed confirmation receipt that can be used until the registration arrives in the mail. On the payment confirmation page customers must select ‘yes’, enter an email address, and click ‘Send Email Confirmation’ for the information to be emailed.

Before registering your vehicle, you must obtain Florida Auto Insurance and have verification of the VIN number. The auto insurance must be purchased from an insurance company licensed by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. Florida's minimum coverage is $10,000 personal injury protection and $10,000 property damage liability . If you have been involved in a crash, or been convicted of certain offenses, you may be required to purchase bodily injury liability coverage . Every mobile home located in Florida, whether it is continuously occupied or not, is subject to Florida registration. A manufacturer’s certificate of origin is issued for each unit of a mobile home when it is built.

To renew by mail, be on the look out for your registration renewal notice! As a courtesy, the Tax Collector’s Office mails renewal notices to mobile home owners. The courtesy renewal notices are generally mailed no less than 3 weeks prior to the mobile home registration expiration date . The renewal notice includes materials which allow mobile homeĆ owners to more easily renew their registration by mail.

Mobile home registrations and renewals are handled by the Tax Collector's Office. Crystal Heatherly is our newly appointed Tax Collector for Lee County. Before taking on the roll as Tax Collector, Crystal was the Real Property Tax specialist. In her time at the tax office, she has worn many hats as a deputy clerk and has gained a wealth of knowledge. No refund on permits of $50 or less or if work has commenced or if permit has expired. An owner applying for a mobile home/RV tie down permit must also submit a Mobile Home Owner Affidavit, listing the mobile home dealer/installer who will be installing the mobile home/RV.

Specific clearance information for customers if there is a stop preventing registration of the vehicle or vessel. Drivers who are new to Florida must register and title their vehicle in the state of Florida within 30 days of the owner either becoming employed, placing children in public school or establishing residency in Florida.
All mobile homes or recreational vehicles permanently affixed to the owner's land and declared as real property are issued a permanent "RP" decal. Owners must obtain a completed DR-402 form from any of the Tax Collector Offices or Property Appraiser’s Office, indicating the land and mobile home titles are in the same name, before applying for the "RP" decal from the Tax Collector's Office. It is a violation of the law to fail to display a current registration decal. Mobile homes that fail to properly display a current decal are subject to late fees or tangible personal property taxation. Mobile homes must be registered with a current decal affixed to the mobile home unit at all times, even when unoccupied.

The best times to visit the Tax Collectors office is during the middle of the week, the busiest time are Monday & Friday and after holidays. All manufactured homeowners who are over the age of 65 shall be exempt from payment of the registration fee on their owner-occupied manufactured home but will be subject to the payment of the $5 issuance fee. Examples include your civil and criminal courts, bail bonds, boating and fishing citations, traffic citations, marriage licenses, adoptions, jury service, parking, passports, and many more. The estates includes 20 acres of historic buildings and gardens.
Many government services provided at the county level are available from either the DMV Office or the Clerk of Court - also known as the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The DMV focuses on licenses and tags for anything that you drive including cars, boats, motorcycles, trucks, RVs and more. "RP" decals are permanent and transferable to a new owner when the land and mobile home are sold as a unit. Once a mobile home title has been retired, ownership transfers are recorded on the deed of the property. The owner may re-apply for the certificate of title, if necessary, should the home be removed from the property.

A delinquency fee will be charged if the registration is not renewed by the 10th of January. Manufactured home registration is due by October 1, and delinquent after November 30. Manufactured homeowners have 30 days after they purchase a manufactured home or 30 days after it enters into the state to register their manufactured home.
